Mix-Master-Mustard was originally created for an advertising campaign to promote the opening of Blue Man Group's Chicago production. The character came back to life years later when the images were used for another online campaign created by Blue Man Group for the theonion.com, which ended up being one of the most successful campaigns theonion.com had hosted at that time.

Live Wire costumes were built for the Blue Man Group band members. The top photo shows the costumes live on stage during the 2011 Blue Man Group Tour. The bottom photo shows a behind-the-scenes look of the intricate wiring up close.
